Meaning

Who is an optimist and a pessimist? I was thinking that the first is the +ve attitude one and second is the -ve attitude one.

But my friend gave me a new definition by telling this dialogue as an example.

Pessimist : "It can't get any worse than this"

Optimist : "Oh yes! It can !!!!"
